The DH2300 ships without storage drives, so you'll need to purchase one or two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives separately. We recommend NAS-rated drives such as the WD Red Plus or Seagate IronWolf. It is also a good idea to check the UGREEN drive compatibility list before you buy, so you can confirm your chosen HDD has been tested with the NAS and avoid setup issues later.

That depends on how you set up the drives. With two 8 TB drives in RAID 1, you get about 8 TB of usable space, since one drive mirrors the other for added protection. In JBOD or Basic mode, you get about 16 TB, but without protection against a drive failure. Actual available capacity will be slightly lower because UGOS Pro uses around 16 GB for system partitioning, and the final number can vary depending on the drive type and how capacity is measured. The UGREEN NASync DH2300 supports up to two hard drives and offers multiple RAID configuration options, including Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1.
Among these options, Basic mode allows for the most efficient use of available storage capacity, while RAID 1 is recommended for users who prioritize data protection through disk redundancy.

The DH2300 supports online RAID migration from Basic mode to RAID 1, allowing users to enhance data protection without replacing existing drives.

Please note the following limitations:

• JBOD and RAID 0 do not support online RAID migration. To change from these modes, data must be backed up and the storage pool recreated.
• RAID migration only supports upward expansion (e.g., from Basic to RAID 1). Downgrading or switching to lower RAID levels is not supported.
